Is your social media page a plethora of your favorite pop-culture? Do you have streaming-marathons of Hallyu Drama? Are you the type of person to share the Music Video, of your favorite star, as soon as they are released? Is your twitter a Diary of thoughts of K-pop? If you are one or any of those types I want to ask you one last question. What if you could combine your favorite guilty K-pop pleasures?

My K-pop first and foremost guilty pleasure is Park Jin-Young. It is my opinion that JYP can do nothing wrong. He does not age, he is confident as he is talented, and his skills make him a quadruple threat in the entertainment industry. He can write music, perform, play, produce and act. He is responsible for some of the best artists. He cultivates talent like a gardener tending to a orchard of fruit trees. The best part is he humbles himself in with a flair for comedy and poking fun at himself.

My second guilty pleasure is parody songs or silly songs like “냉면” (Naeng Myeon) by Park Myeong-Su and Jessica from 소녀시대 (SNSD). I also love the comedian Kim ShinYoung and her parody of Nobody by the Wondergirls, singing about NoGaRi (노가리). I guess I love funny songs about food! My third K-pop guilty pleasure is talented young artists and unknowns bands. To me artists like Cloud9 (disbanded), Dear Cloud, GP Basic and Ora (now in 헬로비너스/ Hello Venus) deserve a second chance and world wide recognition. In all that my dream ability would be to combine the storm of American media with, the British music invasion, and South Korea’s Hallyu Wave. You would get the most epic, and young, and freshest song choice ever.

Now who would I combine in one of my dream duet pairings?

Sophia Grace Brownlee and Hwang Min-Woo!

Sophia Grace (Brownlee) is the outstanding talent of several music-cover videos with her younger cousin named Rosie. The British born singer rose to fame at 8 years old, when she was featured on the talk show Ellen in the USA. During her appearances her personality stole the show talkative and confident child with little to no stage fright. Now at the age of 10 not only have most of her YouTube cover videos gone viral, but she also released her solo debut on Friday May 31st with her first single “Girls Just Gotta Have Fun”.

Sophia has also covered

  • “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj
  • “Turn My Swag On” by Keri Hilson.
  • “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele.
  • “Fire Work” by Katy Petty
  • “All my Loving” by The Beatles
  • “Thriller” by Michael Jackson
  • “Moment 4 Life” by Nicki Minaj.

Hwang Min-Woo is known as Little Psy.  The 7 year old singer and rapper was a big hit on SBS’s  Korean variety show “Star King”. He also competed in TVn’s Korea’s Got Talent and it was there he received favorable remarks by the judges for her professional stage presence. The very next day Korean rapper and world wide sensation Psy asked him to appear in the now YouTube Phenomenon “Gangnam Style”. He is no stranger to the ups and downs of being in the spotlight. Min-Woo released is single “Show-Time” in March 2013.

All in all these young kids are not only talented but trend setters. Each embracing fun styles that pop and set them out from a crowd. Wouldn’t they be perfect to record together? I for one am hoping this dream song happens!

Disclaimer: This Blog is purely based on my awesome-silly thoughts so please do not quote this as fact. As far as I know there are no plans for any of these young talents to work together.

Personally, I’m not one for little kids acting older than their age and getting into the club-like scene of the entertainment industry so young. I’m always especially conflicted when it comes to that young girl that covered Hyuna’s dances. On the other hand, I feel like a collaboration between these two kids would be absolutely amazing. At least they do seem to be having fun and the MVs seem light-hearted and fun too, and they aren’t getting told to do anything too on the sexy concept side of the industry.
I would definitely like to see what would come out of a collaboration between these kids.
